Finlandia University women's basketball team cracks WBCA Academic Top 25 for third consecutive year
Hancock, MI. - July 21, 2010: The Finlandia University women's basketball team finished the 2009-2010 season with the ninth best grade point average in NCAA Division III according to the recently released Women's Basketball Coaches Association Academic Top 25 list. It is the third consecutive year the women's basketball team has received WBCA academic honors, including top 5 finishes in 2007-2008 and 2008-2009. The Lions finished with a cumulative team grade point average of 3.508 in 2010.
"It is always one of our team goals to make the Academic Top 25 list, "said head coach Curtis Wittenberg. "I'm very proud of our team and we hope to continue the tradition of academic excellence in the future."
Founded in 1981, the WBCA promotes women's basketball by unifying coaches at all levels to develop a reputable identity for the sport and to foster and promote the development of the game as a sport for women and girls.
