It’s the most watched television program in Finland every year, and this year Copper Country residents will have the chance to tune in as well. It’s the annual Presidential Independence Day Ball, which is hosted each December 6 by the President of Finland at the Presidential Palace, and televised across the nation. This year, at the Finnish American Heritage Center (FAHC), the Ball will be briefly live-streamed as part of a program exemplifying the Finnish traditions surrounding this national holiday. At 5 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of each month Finlandia University Campus Ministry will be hosting Soup & Meet at Chapel of St. Matthew. This is a great opportunity to gather with your peers at the university, as well as enjoy delicious soup and refreshments. These events will be immediately followed by a candlelight service of “Holden Evening Prayer,”which is an evening Vespers service. It mostly consists of music with prayer. Interested in theatre, looking to get involved or interested in a couple unique classes? Then you’ll want to head to the Chapel of St. Matthew tonight between 8:30 and 10 p.m. for spring play auditions. The play is being directed by Rev. Soren Schmidt who is looking for male and female actors and directing assistants. These are also two courses available. This is open to students, employees and community members.
