On Wednesday, November 1st from 12:30-1 p.m., there will be a special service recognizing those who have died in the past year (or more). This may be family, friends, neighbors and any one you may wish to be remembered in our prayers on this day. Anyone may attend and write a name of remembrance in our All Saints Book, prior to the service being conducted. During prayers in the service, names will be read aloud while the Chapel bell will ring out for each individual remembered and candles will be lit. Please join us for this reflective service. At 5 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of each month Finlandia University Campus Ministry will be hosting Soup & Meet at Chapel of St. Matthew. This is a great opportunity to gather with your peers at the university, as well as enjoy delicious soup and refreshments. These events will be immediately followed by a candlelight service of “Holden Evening Prayer,”which is an evening Vespers service. It mostly consists of music with prayer. Beginning Wednesday, October 4 at 5:30 p.m., Tiina Sakari of Atlantic Mine will lead a Finnish I course. The class will meet for eight weeks, for about an hour and a half each session. The class is appropriate for people with no language experience at all, or those with minimal background in Finnish.Find out more »
Also on Wednesdays, beginning October 4 at 5:30 p.m.., Finland native and Copper Country resident Anna Leppanen will instruct the Finnish II course. Designed for people with some skill in the language, this class will enable participants to expand their vocabulary and work toward conversational skills.
