Regional business owners-and everyone in the community-were invited to experience the dynamic connections among art, technology, industry and education on October 17, 2012, at the Finlandia University Jutila Center, Hancock.

"Conversations About Design," the second annual SEEDesign seminar, was an interactive, multi-media art installation that demonstrated with fun and spontaneity some of the many ways creative services can increase a business's bottom line.

In a display of lighting design and engineering, the Jutila Center building was lluminated during the event. (See photo at right)

And through photography, videography, and recorded interviews with creative professionals the installation celebrated the collaboration that occurs among business and creative professionals.

The highlighted creative services included graphic design, photography, videography, voice-overs, editing, sign making, light engineering, architecture, and marketing.

The creative firms and professionals featured in the installation included The Upper Peninsula Marketing Department, Inc.; IG Graphics; Monte Consulting, Inc.; Opusweb.com; Brassard Media; Brockit.com; OHM, Inc.; On Air Voices; Gary Brown; and Lester Brent.

Finlandia University associate professor of graphic design Robert Grame coordinated the overall presentation of the art installation. Todd Brassard of Brassard Media, Hancock, was the technical coordinator. Finlandia University Art & Design students Audrey Small, Caitlin Spera, and others conducted the initial interviews.

SEEDesign was sponsored by Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, Thrivent Financial, the Jutila Center for Global Design and Business, and the Finlandia University International School of Art and Design.
