Nurses with a BSN are in demand.
Today's complex health care environment demands well-prepared nurses. Even for entry-level nursing positions, a BSN is quickly becoming necessary.
The job opportunities for nurses are expected to remain excellent.
Of course, available job openings will vary by geographical location and the need for new versus experienced RNs. However, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), employment for nurses (RNs) is expected to grow faster than the average occupation through 2016. In addition to the growth expected in the industry, many RNs are destined to retire within the next 10 years, adding even more positions to the employment forcast. The BLS notes that 587,000 new nursing jobs will be needed within the next 8-10 years. This is an excellent time to become a nurse.
Nursing positions exist across the health care system and employment growth is expected to occur in all of these areas. Nurses work in hospitals, outpatient settings, long-term care, and community settings. In addition, licensed RNs can generally work anywhere in the US.
