Interested in applying marketing and graphic design fundamentals collectively? Students in the Marketing and Graphic Design program explore product development, promotion, visual communication, and advertising using theoretical and practical techniques.
Program Philosophy & Learning Outcomes
Students will gain experiential learning to develop and manage marketing strategies, as well as purchasing, advertising, marketing planning and analysis, customer relations, and distribution.
Finlandia University’s Marketing & Graphic Design majors create visual content by hand or through the use of computer software to communicate ideas that inspire, inform and captivate consumers. They develop the overall layout and production layout design for various applications such as logos, web sites, product illustrations, advertisements, brochures, magazines and corporate reports.
In addition to lectures in product development and advertising, students complete hands-on training to gain real-world experience. Given the importance of design in the field, students achieve a fundamental grasp of art as it applies to marketing.
The program will enable graduates to work effectively in industry-standard creative teams, moving from logically identifying and assessing consumer needs and desires to the design of effective promotional graphic materials. The program will develop a student who is proficient in marketing and graphic design which emphasizes the benefit of such dual-proficiency in a team.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of marketing managers is projected to grow 9 percent from 2014 to 2024, faster than the average for all occupation. Employment of graphic designers is projected to show little or no change from 2014 to 2024. The work of graphic designers will continue to be important in the marketing of products throughout the economy.
