Applications now open for 2023 Ponsse Internship

Application deadline is Friday, January 27, 2023

Finlandia University students can now apply for the Ponsse Einari Vidgrén Foundation Internship. The internship will consist of approximately two weeks spent at Ponsse North America in Rhinelander, Wisconsin and approximately three weeks at Ponsse Plc headquarters in Vieremä, Finland, in May and June 2023.

Anonymous donation sparks relaunch of Finlandia University Gallery

A recent donation to the Finlandia University Gallery will carry on the legacy and promotion of Finnish-American artists with the continuation of all operations and functions. The donor, who chose to remain anonymous at this time, was joined by an abundance of support from local community members.

Holiday Open House returns for all Finlandia students, faculty and staff!

Finlandia’s TRIO Student Support Services and Tutoring and Learning Center will host a Holiday Open House on December 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Events will take place in the TRIO Lounge in Nikander Hall, Room 12. 

The open house will include food, games, crafts, and bunches of holiday cheer, with Terri OlsenNatalie Anderson, and Veronica Horning coordinating festivities.

Finlandia University raises $50K for student scholarships

Finlandia University alumni and friends donated over $50,000 toward student scholarships during FinnU’s sixth annual Giving Tuesday fundraiser in November. The official total raised was $52,356, including an anonymous contribution of $10,000 kicking off the event.

Finlandia President Tim Pinnow praised the efforts of those who supported the cause, which has become an important FinnU tradition as 100 percent of full-time domestic students currently receive financial aid.

One of the Copper Country’s longest-standing cultural traditions will continue at Finlandia University on the evening of Tuesday, December 6, when the Finnish-founded school hosts its annual celebration of Finland’s Independence Day.
