Michigan Tuition Grant Reinstated, Increased by State Legislature

Students across the state of Michigan can finally breathe easier now that the Michigan Tuition Grant has been reinstated.

Benefits of Dual Enrollment with Luke Paul

With the first semester of the school year complete, admissions officer Luke Paul dropped by Finlandia Fridays to tell host Olivia Myers more about FinnU’s Dual enrollment program for eligible high school students.

Sherry Wyeth leads Health Sciences Admissions

Sherry Wyeth joined the Finlandia University’s College of Health and Science recruitment staff this past semester. Her expertise in building relationships translates directly to university admissions work.

Luke Paul joins the admission staff at Finlandia University

The Finlandia Office of Admissions welcomed Luke Paul (’16) to its team this past semester as an admissions officer.

“I can take an active role in helping the university grow,” said Paul. “Being an alumnus of Finlandia, I’m glad that I get to be a part of the staff.”

He joins the team with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with an Emphasis in Marketing from Finlandia University.

Monica Freeman Takes Over Alumni, External Relations

Finlandia University is excited to welcome back Monica Freeman, a 2019 alum, as the new Coordinator of External Relations. 

Freeman earned her bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Graphic Design here at FinnU. While here she worked in the communications office as an intern and was a member of the volleyball team for four years.  After graduation, Freeman made the move back downstate before joining FinnU once again as an employee.

FinnU To Offer Creative Writing Minor Starting Fall 2020

Starting Fall 2020 students who are interested in creative writing will now be able to declare creative writing as a minor.

The creative writing minor is composed of five core classes that focus on fiction writing, poetry, creative non-fiction, a creative writing portfolio and contemporary literature.  Along with these core classes, students are asked to choose from one of three different elective courses. The Community Pelimannit, a series of six Finnish fiddling workshops, will be held January 6–23, 2020, hosted by Finlandia University’s Finnish American Heritage Center.

Giving Tuesday Brings in Over $62,000 for Student Scholarships

Finlandia University is excited to announce it’s 2019 Giving Tuesday. Over 115 donors helped raise $62,403.25 for student scholarships.

“We are beyond thrilled by the generosity of our donors and their continued support of Giving Tuesday,” Director of Marketing and Communications Olivia Myers said. “We set a lofty goal on the day and our donors stepped up to provide our students with scholarships for the next semester.”
