130 honored on Fall 2021 Dean’s and Honors List

Finlandia University is proud to announce its Fall 2021 semester Dean’s and Honors List Students. In total 130 students earned honors, including 88 who earned Dean’s List honors for having a grade point average of 3.75 or above.

To be eligible for either list students must have completed 12 or more credits and had no grade below a “C.” Dean’s List students earned a GPA of 3.75 or above, while Honors List students had a GPA between 3.50 and 3.749. The Ryan Street Community Garden has plots available for the 2022 growing season! Located in Hancock, plots for the garden are available on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Ryan Street Community Garden provides Hancock residents the opportunity to grow healthy, affordable, fresh vegetables, fruits, flowers and herbs for their households. It also serves as a place for social interaction and creates a beautiful and educational landmark in the community demonstrating ecologically sound and climate-appropriate practices.

Skijoring and Scholarships with Kat Hanson

The Lake Effect Scholarship is here!

This week, Enrollment Counselor Kat Hanson skijors by the Finlandia Fridays set to talk with host Jordan Shawhan about the new Lake Effect Scholarship, which allows eligible commuting and on-campus living students to enjoy the benefits of cost-sharing education. Commuting students will have tuition reduced to $2,500 per year, earning their full bachelor’s degree for $10,000.

Diversity Dinner calling for student recipes by March 28

Finlandia’s annual Diversity Dinner will be celebrated on April 20, from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. in the Finlandia Hall Cafeteria! over the course of a full week! Dinner options will feature dishes made from recipes submitted by FinnU students. Students will need to submit their recipes by March 28 for the chance to have their dish featured during Diversity Dinner. All students will receive free entry.

Finlandia College of Health Sciences announces plans for Towsley Foundation Grant

Since 1998, the Harry A. and Margaret D. Towsley Foundation has partnered with Finlandia University in providing instrumental funding toward technology and equipment. The Foundation’s most recent expression came as a five-year $220,000 grant to provide a robust, state-of-the-art healthcare education for FinnU College of Health Sciences students at their new facility.

In this week’s episode of Finlandia Fridays, Student PTA Club President Tabin Filizetti joins the show to talk about Soup for Soles. Virtanen’s research to be featured in three PBS world premieres this weekend

On Sunday, March 13, the world premiere of three documentary films featuring the research and production-related work of Finnish & Nordic Studies Professor Hilary-Joy Virtanen will take place on PBS station WNMU-TV Marquette as part of their Festival! 22 pledge programming.
