Chapel of St. Matthew

Please join us for Chapel!  All are welcome!

Mondays and Wednesdays during the academic year, August through April
12:30 - 1:00 p.m.
Chapel of St. Matthew

Chapel meditations are oriented around a semester theme. For example, Wednesday chapel is a liturgical worship service. During the Fall 2007 semester the Wednesday chapel theme was The Gospel of Mark, borrowing from the book Preaching Mark's Unsettling Messiah (David Fleer and Dave Bland, 2006 Chalice Press).

On Mondays this fall we gathered for Taizé worship services. Taizé worship can be described as holy rhythm centered around the reading of scripture, singing of simple songs, and prayers. Taizé worship is intended to create a quiet, meditative, sacred space for opening the soul to the voice of God.

The Spring 2008 Wednesday chapel theme is Faith Through the Eyes of Doubt, borrowing from the book Disappointment with God: Three Questions No One Asks Aloud (Philip Yancy, 1988, Zondervan). Each Wednesday Holy Communion is celebrated, and the campus pastor or a guest speaker provides the chapel meditation.

On Mondays during the Spring 2008 semester, we gather for praise songs and meditations using the book, Seize the Day with Dietrich Bonhoeffer: A 365 Day Devotional by Charles R. Ringma.
