Good team skills are a necessity in the business world, but there is also a need for individuals who break off and do things differently. All businesses started as an experiment by someone who dared to try.

 

Finlandia's School of Business emphasizes the entrepreneurial spirit and focuses on equipping students in all disciplines with the ability to strike out on their own.

 

The International School of Business at Finlandia University is the school of choice for motivated and ambitious individuals who want to succeed in the business world. Succeeding in today’s competitive climate requires innovative and creative thinking and Finlandia University’s School of Business has what it takes to develop the entrepreneurial spirit that lies behind all outstanding business ventures. The faculty of the International School of Business is comprised of not only dedicated teachers but experienced business owners as well.

The programs in the International School of Business include a general business program of course requirements and individual concentrations.  An important feature is the "culminating experience," an internship for students to receive hands-on experience in their area of concentration.  Finlandia University strives to incorporate both the academic and practitioner's approach to learning.

The BBA offering at Finlandia University's International School of Business, which is a 120 credit program, offers the following concentrations: Accounting, International Business, and Management.

Areas of Concentration

Accounting  30 credits
When looking for a strong foundation in the field of business, look no further. Students studying with an accounting concentration will acquire a broad range of knowledge and understanding of business operations necessary in today’s business world. Today, accountants are key players in the management and operation of a variety of business enterprises from private industry to government agencies. A graduate with an accounting concentration can look forward to employment opportunities as an auditor, actuary, budget analyst, CPA (certified public accountant), investment analyst, investment broker, payroll specialist, tax accountant, and more.

International Business  30 credits*
The International Business concentration provides the student with a global perspective in today's business world.  This program can be taken at Finlandia in it's entirety or the student would have the option to do a single or multiple semesters at an international university of the student's choice.  Finlandia University has several cooperative agreements with several Finnish universities of Applied Sciences who offer courses in business taught in English.  This concentration offers possible employment opportunities in international finance.

Management   30 credits

True to the vision statement of Finlandia University, the applied management program provides business students with an opportunity to build a broad foundation for their basic education.  A variety of buisness electives are offered to both new and incoming transfer students.  Working in cooperation with an advisor, students can design a business-based program tailored to their field of interest and experience.  The BBA will greatly increase career choices and advancement opportunities for graduates of this program.  By choosing a concentration in a technical or professional area with business and management education, graduates can become managers, directors, or entrepreneurs in their choice of fields.  Graduates also increase their opportunities for careers in general management areas such as business, industry, and public service.

Sports Management   30 credits

The Sports Management curriculum at Finlandia University provides students with the necessary blend of business skills, management techniques, and understanding of human sport and recreation needs, preparing them to assume management responsibilities in the sports industry. Graduates have a range of career opportunities within the growing field of recreational, leisure, collegiate and professional sports industries.  These include careers in professional sport franchises, coliseum and arena management, ski resorts, corporate fitness centers, college sport programs, sports media industries, sporting goods merchandising and a wide variety of other sport-related areas.
