More about...
Pete Gundersen considers his teaching as a search for a balance between what one needs to know, for survival or career and what is worth knowing for it’s own sake. He began training for the parish ministry in the mid-1960’s, but left the seminary to explore other fields—English literature and creative writing—for nine years. He worked in a warehouse in East Los Angeles along the way, and put in a short stint as assistant manager of a bookstore. In 1977 he returned to the seminary and graduated in 1981. He served as a pastor in Wisconsin and Upper Michigan until 2002 at which time he came to Finlandia University as the Campus Pastor and Assistant Professor in the Religion and Philosophy department. Pete enjoys reading, gardening, and has continuing boat-building fantasies.
