Lauri Anderson has published works of fiction, including: Small Winter Wars, Hunting Hemingway’s Trout, Heikki Heikkinen, Children of the Kalevala, Misery Bay, and Impressions of Arvo Laurila. His research areas include: Finnish-American Literature, British Commonwealth Literature, Modern American Literature, and the canon of Ernest Hemingway. Professor Anderson has been an NEH (National Endowment for the Humanities) Fellow at Cornell University, University of Guadalajara, University of New Mexico, Indiana University, Mount Holyoke, University of Hawaii, Ferrum College, Westbrook College, and Colorado College. He served in the United States Peace Corps in Nigeria, was dean at a private school in the Micronesian state of Chuuk, and was Chair of the English Department at a women's college in Izmir, Turkey.
