More about...
Dr.
Budd finds teaching natural science to be both challenging and
intriguing because the natural sciences are highly interdisciplinary,
involving geology, biology, chemistry and physics, as well as
math, history, and public policy. As a teacher, she is interested in
engaging students in learning through discussion, observation,
experimentation, and participation. In this way, learning
is a process of self-discovery. When not working with students
at Finlandia, Dr. Budd spends much of her time studying the large
and ancient Laurentian Great Lakes. Her research is focused
on Lake Superior, primarily, and to a lesser extent on the lower
Great Lakes. Dr. Budd studies these lakes from the vantage
point of space, using satellite remote sensing to examine lake
temperatures and productivity. She consistently publishes
her research. |
