More about...
Dan Maki has long taught a variety of courses at Finlandia
University. His academic interests are mainly in diplomatic and political history, but he is increasingly curious, perhaps because of his outside interests, about the intersections between the broad areas making up the liberal studies: the Arts and Humanities, the Social Sciences, and the Natural Sciences.

In his non-academic life, he enjoys acting in plays and musicals[and the occasional opera], and is a longtime member of the Calumet Players theatrical troupe. He also maintains a lifelong passion for choral singing as a member of the Copper Country Chorale[34 years]. He has directed a church choir for the past 15 years. Cooking and bread baking, vegetable gardening and stream fishing round out his other major interests.
