PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE


Professor of Science, Finlandia University (formerly Suomi College), Hancock, MI. 1991-Present, 1983-1987. Teaching responsibilities include lecture and laboratory sections of basic, general, artists’ materials, and allied health chemistry, human anatomy and physiology, physical science and microbiology.

Interim Dean, Suomi College of Arts and Sciences, Finlandia University, Hancock, MI.

Health Sciences Editor, Chemical Education Resources, Palmyra, PA. (1997-2001) Developed a series of seven experiments for allied health students. Authored six of those experiments.

Department of Continuing Education, Northern Michigan University, Marquette, MI. 1996-1997, 1984-1985.
Taught lecture and lab sessions of an extension course in introductory chemistry for nurses.

Undergraduate Laboratory Supervisor and GTA Coordinator, Michigan Technological University, Houghton, MI, 1987-1991. Responsibilities included training and supervision of GTAs, experiment development and selection, safety, preparation of instructional materials, and grading. Also taught general chemistry recitation and preparatory chemistry.

Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant - University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, IN, 1979-1983. Dissertation research – kinetic, spectroscopic and other physical studies of the active site avian liver phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase. Teaching assistant - General chemistry lab, biochemistry lecture, various biochemistry seminars.

Undergraduate Research and Teaching Assistant - Michigan Technological University, Houghton MI, 1978-1979. Teaching assistant - quantitative analysis laboratory. Research assistant - Center for Waste Management, setting up a lab to investigate the use of ozone in wastewater treatment.
