Student Senate hosting inaugural U.P. Fall Frenzy concert
Live music from singer-songwriters Canaan Smith, Hannah Bethel and David Myhre will fill the crisp, fall air on Sunday, Sept. 21 as Finlandia University Student Senate hosts the inaugural U.P. Fall Frenzy outdoor concert.
The concert will be hosted at Quincy Green on Finlandia University’s campus. Doors will open at 2 p.m. with music starting at 4 p.m. Tickets are available at North Wind Books and start at $5 for Finlandia students, and just $10 for anyone else. Prices will go up the day of the event.
“This event brings something new to the area,” said Scott Vargas, Student Senate President. “The atmosphere of a large, outdoor concert is an experience that students and community members will be able to share and enjoy together. Two of the student senate’s biggest goals are to provide large events like this for our students, and to help students make a greater connection to our university and the surrounding community. The U.P. Fall Frenzy will help us begin to meet both of these goals.”
The three main acts are all up-and-coming artists in the country music scene, including headliner Canaan Smith, who burst onto the scene with the compelling single "We Got Us." Smith has been touring with Darius Rucker, Dierks Bentley and Florida Georgia Line, and now his latest single, "Love You Like That" is fast becoming a sizzling summer hit.
Bethel is a local product who left the Keweenaw for the city lights of Nashville at the age of 18 to pursue her career as a performer. Since her move to Nashville, Hannah has continued to move up the ranks in the world of country music. Myhre also performs regularly in Nashville, including performing with The Band Perry during the 47th annual CMA Awards.
There will be several other performers throughout the event, which will be fun for all ages. For more information on the concert visit finlandia.edu/frenzy.
