HANCOCK, MI - "Everlasting Moments" is the featured Nordic
film Thursday, April 14, at the Finlandia University Finnish American Heritage
Center, Hancock.
The film will be shown twice on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. and
6:00 p.m.
"Everlasting Moments" is a Swedish drama released in 2008. The
film is set in the early 1900s amid social change and unrest, war, and poverty.
It is based on the true story of Maria Larsson, a Swedish working class woman,
who wins a camera in a lottery. The decision to keep and learn how to use the
camera alters the course of her life.
The film was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the
66th Golden Globe Awards, and was on the shortlist for Best Foreign Language
Film at the 81st Academy Awards.
The film is in Swedish with English subtitles. There is no charge to attend, but donations
are accepted.
