Dulcimer Concert, Workshops April 23, 24
The dulcimer concert, titled "Michigan in Song - of Woods and Water," is Friday, April 23, 7:00 p.m. A dulcimer workshop for beginners is from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., April 24, and an intermediate-level workshop is from 2:30 to 3:30, April 24. Workshop attendees will learn about the dulcimer, explore strumming techniques, and learn several songs. Degen will also offer private dulcimer lessons at pre-scheduled times the weekend of April 23 and 24. Wanda Degen, from East Lansing, Mich., is a folk music specialist, performer, teacher, and arts organizer. Through her music, Degen shares stories of logging, sailing, farming, and other themes in Michigan history. Visit www.wandadegen.com for more information about Degen. The concert and the workshops are free. Individual, pre-scheduled lessons are $15 for a half-hour, and $20 for an hour. The concert and workshops are sponsored by the Finlandia University Campus Enrichment Committee.
