An "Evening of Music and Comedy" Is This Friday, October 22, 7 pm

HANCOCK, MI - The Finlandia University study abroad programs will present their third annual "Evening of Music and Comedy" this Friday, October 22, 7:00 p.m., at the Finnish American Heritage Center, Hancock.

Featured at the fundraiser is a comedy act performed by Roxanne Carlson and Lisa Denomie called, "Clowning Around with Rocki & Jusa Lusa."

"Lisa and I both attended clown school this July at Mooseburger Camp in Buffalo, Minn.," says Roxanne Carlson. "It is a one week intensive clown school for people who want to learn to be 'real' clowns."

So far, Carlson and Denomie have "clowned around" at the Baraga Fishing Derby, the Pelkie Fair, the Bayside Nursing Home, the Lumberjack Parade (where they took third place), and additional functions for children.

Also appearing at the event are local musicians and vocalists Jaime Gariepy, Wende Jonas-Hill, and Tom Katalin.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students; they will be available at the door. Hot and cold beverages and a variety of homemade baked goods will be available for purchase starting at 6:30 p.m.

The Finnish American Heritage Center is located in downtown Hancock at 435 Quincy Street. Proceeds will help fund student travel to Finland this spring for the course, Finlandia Connection.
